Vinesh Jha, CEO
Vinesh founded ExtractAlpha in 2013 in Hong Kong with the mission of bringing analytical rigor to the analysis and marketing of new data sets for the capital markets.
From 1999 to 2005, Vinesh was the Director of Quantitative Research at StarMine in San Francisco, where he developed industry leading metrics of sell side analyst performance as well as successful commercial alpha signals and products based on analyst, fundamental, and other data sources. Subsequently he developed systematic trading strategies for proprietary trading desks at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley in New York. Most recently he was Executive Director at PDT Partners, a spinoff of Morgan Stanley's premiere quant prop trading group, where in addition to research he also applied his experience in the communication of complex quantitative concepts to investor relations.
Vinesh holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and a graduate degree from the University of Cambridge, both in mathematics.
Scott Price, Director of Sales
Scott joined ExtractAlpha in October 2015 as Director of Sales. Scott has almost 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, and over 15 working with the buy-side and independent research industries in several Institutional Sales roles.
Previously Scott was Sales Director at StarMine, an independent analytics and research firm. Scott was a top performing sales person and leader of the sales team as StarMine grew from a private company of 40 employees to being bought out by Thomson Reuters eight years later. Prior to joining StarMine, Scott worked for Rochdale Securities and Midwood Securities, both agency brokers where he sold and marketed independent research products in several Institutional Sales roles with an emphasis on soft dollar sales. Scott was consistently at the very top of sales production relative to peers.
During more than 15 years of selling independent research to the buy side, Scott successfully ran sales for more than 20 different Independent Research providers including HOLT, Larry Kudlow, 13D Research, Wainwright Economics, GEARS, GARP Research, Riedel Research, Polyconomics, and TrendMacro. He has specialized in quant markets for about a decade.
Earlier in his career Scott was a stock broker for several years for W.J. Nolan, a NYSE Member Investment Banking firm. Scott holds a bachelor's degree from The University of Arizona in Pre-Law.
Nick Hannan, Project Manager
Nick joined ExtractAlpha in 2017 as a project manager. Nick has 10 years of experience in Trading, Research and Portfolio Management.
Previously Nick has worked as an FX Dealer for the Bank of New Zealand, and traded Equities and Derivatives for retail and institutional clients at Goldman Sachs JB Were in New Zealand. More recently he was the Portfolio Operations Manager at Longboard Asset Management which followed a role as a Research Analyst with Koch Asset Management, where he developed systematic trading models to allocate risk in Variance, Volatility and Foreign Currency exposures. As a group they managed a portfolio of risk systematically allocated to strategies in beta, enhanced beta, and internally developed alpha models.
Nick holds a Bachelor's degree and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Commerce from the University of Auckland.
Perry Stupp, Technical Consultant
Perry brings more than 20 years of Enterprise Software development, sales and customer engagement experience focused on Fortune 1000 customers. Prior to joining ExtractAlpha as a Technical Consultant, Perry was the founder, President and Chief Customer Officer at Solution Labs Inc. a data analytics company that specialized in the analysis of very large-scale computing infrastructures in place at some of the largest corporate datacenters in the world.
Rob Bender, Advisor
Rob brings to ExtractAlpha over 20 years of experience in financial and operational leadership. Most recently, he served as EVP & CFO of Axioma, where he helped lead the company from a 12-person startup into a leading Wall Street analytics provider. During his tenure, Axioma realized 50X revenue growth, raised $100 million in capital, and increased its headcount tenfold. Rob has a successful track record across multiple phases of the business lifecycle - including startup, growth, international expansion, and M&A.
Prior to Axioma, Rob led strategic planning and business development for a $250 million division of Primedia (NYSE:PRM), overseeing numerous acquisitions and strategic partnerships.
